Shilah Phillips got her start in the music industry by making it as a semi-finalist on American Idol Season 3 where she worked alongside Jennifer Hudson. In 2006, Shilah Phillips made history and was crowned the 1st African American woman to reign as Miss Texas in its 79 year history.
